Day 1: Psalm 39:7
“But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.”
David was not happy. He had tough questions for God. There were things about life that he could not understand. He struggled to keep quiet, yet his inner anguish increased, and his heart grew hot within him.
David behaved just like many of us do today when we are angry with God. When things are not going as well as we expect, we ask God tough questions. David reached the point of asking God to show him how fleeting his life was because nothing made sense. Nothing.
Then he made this statement in Psalm 39:7:
“But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.” (NIV)
Such strong words! Another version says, “For what do I expectantly wait?” David had reached the end. Alifika mwisho. He had nowhere else to turn.
But God was there. Waiting expectantly for David to turn back to Him in full surrender.
Reflection:
Are you at that point where you have no more questions for God, because He is not giving you answers? There is one answer left for you. Hope in God. Our job is to trust in Him completely. Then He does the rest.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to hope in you with everything I have. Help me to lay my cares and worries at your feet. Help me to trust in you completely. Amen.
