God of Mysteries

God of mysteries – I don’t understand your ways,

But I choose to trust you.

I don’t understand how you knew me before I was born,

And you saw my frame being formed in my mother’s womb

I don’t understand why your plan is sometimes painful, confusing and difficult,

Yet you charted everything out before I came to be.

God of mysteries – I don’t understand your ways,

But I choose to trust you.

You sought me out when I had no idea you existed.

You sent your Son to die for sins I didn’t even know I had committed.

You paid the price for them, every last one,

Before I even understood that they were leading me to eternal death.

God of mysteries – I don’t understand your ways,

But I choose to trust you.

You send me down paths that have no end in sight,

Up mountains with no peak, valleys with no bottom,

All this time, holding my hand so I do not get lost,

Bearing my weight so I do not get tired.

These things do not make sense to me, not in the least.

God of mysteries – I don’t understand your ways,

But I choose to trust you.

You tell me to trust in You, to believe in You,

When there is absolutely no reason to do so.

You tell me that You have my back, and I am not alone,

Especially when I feel lonelier than ever.

Then – in the midst of all the confusion, You reveal yourself,

And I fall to my knees in awe of Your greatness.

God of mysteries – I don’t understand your ways,

But I choose to trust you.

2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by faith, not by sight.” (NIV)

  1. Good reflections well expressed Alison. May the Lord bless you as you seek Him in varying ways and share with His people.
