Day 4: Psalm 33:22
“Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.” (NLT)
Today has been one of those days when hope seems to be a little farther away than usual. I have prayed, trusted, sought the Lord, listened keenly, and obeyed, yet the situation remains unchanged.
It’s in moments like these that I remember how David endured so much in his pursuit of the throne of Israel. God called and anointed him for the task, yet years later, he was still on the run. He took shelter in caves. He slept in enemy territory. The government of the day was hell-bent on destroying him and his army.
But David did not give up. He continued to place his hope in the Lord and depended on Him completely. David trusted the Lord to accomplish what He had promised many years earlier. And sure enough, wherever he went, the Lord was with him. God surrounded him with His love and revealed His faithfulness even in the midst of trials.
Now I get it: placing my hope in the Lord and depending on Him fully frees me to experience his unfailing love as I walk through this season. All I need to do is trust Him.
Reflection
Perhaps you’ve had a day like mineāone where hope seemed to fly out the window. Let’s encourage ourselves in the Lord, knowing that He will take control of everything we place in His hands. Let’s put our hope in the Lord again. He is faithful.
Prayer
Lord, help me not to lose my hope in You. Help me to surrender everything to You and to trust You fully. Embrace me with your love once again, and remind me that I am never alone. Amen.
